The closest beach to the villa is the long stretch of sandy coastline between Petres and Georgioupoli. There are plenty of organised areas with tavernas and beach bars which offer umbrellas and sunbeds. Or simply find your own private spot as the beach is vast enough to allow it. 

There are 2 lovely bays at Petres - one sandy and the other with pebbles. Both bays are organised and are great for snorkelling. To the west you will find Georgioupoli beach with its shallow shores which are great for kids. Beyond the harbour at Georgioupoli is also the bay of Kalivaki. Beautiful clear waters await. 

The south coast of Crete is known for its fabulous beaches with crystalline waters. Preveli beach is a famous beach on the south coast and an area of natural and protected beauty with a beautiful palm forest, located at the mouth of a river that comes from the imposing Kourtaliotiko Gorge. If you walk up the side of the river you will find some rock pools in which to swim which takes the experience you will have at Preveli beach to the next level.

If you do head south, other beaches that are worth a visit are the bays of Skinaria, Ammoudi and Damnoni. 

There are many beautiful beaches to visit but you may have to return to see them all!
